An Ordinary Birthday

 I woke up late. In the morning at least. About 10am. Half past 10am maybe.

Waking up in this awkward time usually results in my skipping breakfast. But that is not always the case. Sometimes I'll have my breakfast as usual, but have a late lunch. I did the former.

It was not until near noon I received a notification on my phone. It's from CMB, the bank for which I have a credit card. I applied for one when I was an undergraduate, and it gave me a 3000CNY credit line. Now it is still 3000 after these years no matter how much I spent. Absurd.

Although it does never granted any convenience toward spending, it also never stopped hoaxing me into their mostly useless app. Why is it useless, one may ask. It's because like a lot of other apps, they packed too many features into the app that end up not needed. For example, having an activity that rewards you 1CNY. What, it is useful isn't it? Well actually no. You need to navigate to the app, tap on the activity, spend points and get a coupon. Yes a coupon of 1CNY. And this coupon can only be used at a purchase of over 300CNY. Oh and I forgot, you must spend 18CNY to begin with. So this ends up being simply hilarious -- so many steps, for no more than 0.35% cashback. There's no such thing as regular cashback, and the rewarded points worth nothing. So what it does is just harassing its customers.

But thanks to the harassment, I realized it was my birthday. So I was turning 22. Every time I think of this, I feel the time is passing so fast.

And my memory fades off from here: I had a random lunch, if I had one. At about 5pm I set out to order the dinner. What I ordered: eggplant with meat, spicy chicken, and roasted duck. I went out for a walk after that, and bought a cup of bubble tea. With the credit. The shop's word for nata de coco is nata jelly, no wonder I missed it last time.

Updating my phone and buying the bubble tea took some time. And it's not until around 7:00pm I got the order. However, when I got it, the roasted duck went missing. Frustrated, I contacted the service, and they provided a refund.

I was having the dinner with my roommate, and a friend of his. The friend does not like spicy food very much, so they went out to buy another dish. Also there are only two persons' amount of rice included, so I boiled my own part.

And I stayed up late.

That's what I remembered for my birthday.
